As many as 20% of veterans return from Iraq with post-traumatic stress disorder.
One of my colleagues at KU is a sociologist who studies the military and I'm reading one of her more recent articles about veterans seeking civilian employment.

However, I think that percentage is WAAAAYYYY too low. How do they evaluate PTSD? Most veterans will not admit to having any kind of problems after returning from Iraq. Mostly for the fear they will be discharged, or just the stigma of getting help, admitting they have a problem, etc...
Everyone I've ever met who comes back from Iraq has some symptoms of PTSD. I haven't met one yet who doesn't. I also haven't met one who got help...
