“We’ll see you when you get back.” Chloe said on the phone as she looked outside the
hotel window and admired the pink and white flowers that lined the streets of Washington
DC. “I’ll tell him, Oliver. I love you.”

With a smile, Chloe ended the phone call. She knew that Oliver would rather spend the day
with them, but with a joint operation with Batman to shut down a 33.1 in Gotham, she
understood, and so did Lana and Pete.

She turned around and looked at herself in the full length mirror. She was pretty sure
Lana chose the color green for her because of Oliver. Although the dress was simple,
her cheeks heated up when she remembered how she modelled the dress for her husband,
who was only interested in seeing the new lingerie she brought to wear with the dress.
It had only been two days, but she missed him as if they’d been apart for longer.

When her eyes caught the time on her watch, Chloe quickly looked around for her shoes
and sat down as she prepared to strap them when Connor walked in and she smiled at how
perfect her son looked.

Even at such a young age, she could clearly see Oliver’s features on their son. His
expressions were more like Oliver’s, his height was definitely inherited from his
father which Chloe was sure Connor would be grateful for. With a huge smile, she
opened up her arms and Connor walked in and wrapped his arms around her neck.

“You look gorgeous, Connor. Is the fit okay? Not too tight?”

Connor shook his head and pecked her cheeks. “When will Dad get here?”

“He’ll try to get here by tonight.” Chloe replied as she surveyed her son’s outfit.

“Did you remember to clean up after yourself?”

Connor rolled his eyes as Chloe fixed the collar of his suit. “Yes, Mom. Why can’t Dad
get here sooner?” he asked, playing with her necklace.

“He needs to finish some work so he can spend the weekend with us”, she explained as
she continued to fuss over her son’s suit. “So, is your granddad ready?”

“Uh-huh.” Connor replied and his jaw dropped when Chloe stood up.

She noticed her son’s expression and looked down at her dress. “What’s wrong?”

“Nu-uh! No way!”

Chloe sighed as she looked at her son who glared at her. “What do you mean ‘no way’?”

“You’re not leaving this room wearing that dress! It’s too short!”

She would have laughed if it weren’t for the serious expression on her son’s face.

“Too short?”

Connor nodded his head vigorously as he looked up at his mother. “Dad said that while
he’s gone, I’m the man of the house and I have to look after you.”

“Really?” Chloe asked amused at how stern her son looked in his own suit.

“He told you that?”

“Uh-huh.” Connor replied with a nod, and this time, Chloe can’t help but smile at how
adorable her son looked. Just in time, Gabe walked in to check on his daughter and
grandson, and was about to compliment her when Connor spoke out.

“Grandad! Tell mom her dress is too short!”

“Chloe, your dress is too short.” Gabe repeated seriously as Connor nodded in approval.

“See!” He cried out triumphantly and Gabe wisely walked away, but not without giving his
daughter a wink and a chuckle.

“Well, this dress was chosen by your Aunt Lana. You know how important this day is for her.”

Connor bit his lips as he fidgeted in his suit. “Can’t you make it longer?”

“Connor, the wedding won’t be long, and you know I don’t wear these types of dresses all
the time. This is just for your Aunt Lana and Uncle Pete’s wedding.”

“I know”, he replied. “But why does it have to be so short?”

Chloe was pretty sure that Oliver would have a good time when she tells him all about this
later. She knelt down and brushed her son’s blond hair away from his face and smiled. “It’s
not that short, Connor. Does it look bad on me?”

“No. You look good! That’s the problem!” Connor replied as he threw his hands up in the air.
“Other guys will be looking at you, and I can’t tell them to back off like dad does!”

“What?”

Connor quickly covered his mouth with his hands as Chloe raised her eyebrows at him.

She sighed as she fixed Connor’s jacket. “You really don’t need to worry about anything, baby.”

“I know.” Connor muttered through his hands.

Chloe gently removed his hands from his mouth. “Then why all the fuss?”

Connor fidgeted as he looked at her. “I have to look after you!”

“You are, baby.” Chloe reassured her son with a kiss and a smile. “You don’t need to worry
about anything.”

“Okay.” Connor conceded before he gave her that serious expression again. “But no talking
to strangers!”

“I promise, Connor.” Chloe said as she stood up and offered her hand to Connor.
“Everything okay now?”

“Yeah.” Her son replied as he took her hand. “You look very pretty, mom.”

“Thank you, Connor. You look absolutely perfect.”

“Of course I do! I look like dad!”

Chloe laughed as she turned around to watch as Connor gave her a smile that was
definitely Oliver’s.

“Come on let’s go, we don’t want to make your granddad waiting.”

He squeezed her hand tighter as mother and son walked out of their hotel suite.

“We still have time; maybe you can get something longer from the store downstairs...”

Chloe simply rolled her eyes as she tugged her son towards the elevator.

The End...
