He welcomed her kisses as her lips caressed him on his chest, his neck and finally his lips. He felt her laugh and
he shifted them so she was on her back and he hovered over her as his hands wandered around her body.
He missed this. He missed having her beneath him, holding him close as she tightened her legs around his waist,
green eyes clouded with desire as she moaned his name.
“Ollie... wake up.”
Oliver shook his head as he cradled her neck in one hand and kissed her lips, the other brushing her blond locks
away from her face so he could stare at her perfection. “Don’t wanna.”
Chloe giggled through his kisses. “You need to wake up.”
Oliver just shook his head as he buried himself deeper into her, and enjoyed how she arched her body against his.
“I want to stay with you.”
She didn’t answer him, and Oliver frowned as he felt something poke his cheeks.
“Wake up, Ollie.”
Oliver continued to kiss her, but the poking sensation was still there.
“Dad?”
His eyes slowly fluttered open and he turned to the side, just in time to see Connor, with his finger out ready to
poke him again. “Connor?”
His voice was scratchy, and he watched as Connor’s eyes grew wider before his son jumped on top of him.
“Dad! You’re okay!”
Oliver winced, the pain from surgery made it harder to breathe with Connor’s weight on top of him. But he
just couldn’t tell him to move away.
“Connor!”
Oliver and his son turned to see Chloe walk in the room and Connor practically rolled away from Oliver as
he launched himself at Chloe. “Dad’s awake!”
“See, everything’s fine, Connor.” Chloe replied as she briefly looked at Oliver before she ruffled his hair.
“Aunt Chloe stayed with us the whole night.” Connor said as he jumped back on his bed before he crawled next
to Oliver. “You scared me, dad.”
“Sorry, buddy.” Oliver replied as he kissed his son on the forehead. His eyes met with Chloe for a second before
she looked away and grabbed something out of her bag.
“I’m just going to give Emil a call to let him know you’re awake.”
“Chloe,” Oliver called her before she walked out of the room. “Thank you, for staying with Connor.”
Chloe just nodded and walked out of the room to make the call.
Besides him, Connor yawned as he snuggled closer to his dad. “Are you really okay?”
“Yep.” Oliver replied as he looked at his son who stared at him. “What about you?”
Connor just nodded his head and yawned again. “I’m sleepy.”
Oliver just smiled as Connor’s eyes began to shut. “Go to sleep, buddy.”

In his lab, Emil just ended the call from Chloe. He was looking at the results from Oliver’s tests while was
waiting for Victor’s report on the bullet fragment. Everything seemed normal, there was nothing to indicate
something was wrong, but the fact that Lex Luthor was involved worried him a bit.
Oliver could’ve easily been killed, but he was alive. There wasn’t even going to be any damage from the shooting,
and he would most likely to be released in a day or two.
Something wasn’t adding up, and Emil need to figure out what it was. He gathered his files and locked them in
the drawer when the phone rang. “Hello?”
“Hey, doc? I’ve got the results from the fragment.”
“Okay, what’s the result?”
“It’s normal.”
“I beg your pardon?”
“I can’t be certain without examining the whole bullet, but the fragment I got looked like it was a part of a boat tail.
Sniper ammunition typically has that feature so snipers can get a better shot because of the reduced air resistance.
Now, the worry is that the ammunition itself looks like its some combination of alloy, copper and zinc. Again, with
this small fragment, we don’t have much to test with.”
“That’s it?”
“Yes, but...” Victor hesitated before he spoke again. “It’s Lex Luthor. There’s got to be something that we’re missing.”
Emil nodded his head, understanding his colleague’s worry. “Keep the sample, considering that Lex is behind this,
and the information you gave me, we might be barking up the wrong tree. I’ll be going to the hospital now, Chloe
just called to say Oliver’s awake.”
“He’s awake? Well, at least that’s good news.”
Back at the hospital, Chloe was still inside the suite waiting for Emil when Oliver woke up again. She looked at him
for one moment before she stood up, picked up the pitcher of water on the side table and poured him a cup.
Oliver gladly accepted the cup after he adjusted the bed, making sure not to wake Connor who was now on his side
of the bed. His throat felt dry, but other than that, he was fine. He could no longer feel the pain from the surgery.
“How are you feeling?” Chloe asked as she took the cup back and placed it on the table. Oliver pretended not to
notice that she took a step back.
“As if I’ve never been shot.” Oliver replied as he looked at her. She looked a little different. He couldn’t explain it.
And it wasn’t just her either. Everything around the room looked... sharp.
“Clark will brief you in once you’re out of the hospital.” Chloe said as she tried not to stare at his face. She couldn’t
look at him and not feel her heart shatter, not even after all the years that had gone by.
Oliver just nodded, and the two of them lapsed into silence. He looked at her and tried to say something, but found
that he couldn’t. The two of them breathed out a sigh of relief as Emil walked in and stopped as he looked at the two
of them.
“Am I interrupting something?”
“No.” They both replied, and Oliver shifted in his position, which caused Connor to wake up.
He looked at the adults around him and Emil gave a subtle nod towards Oliver who understood what he meant.
“You want to go with your Aunt Chloe to have something to eat?” Oliver asked. “Dr. Emil is just going to do a check-up.”
“Then we can go home?” Connor asked and Oliver just smiled.
“I’ll see what the doc says,” he replied as he shifted Connor so he could go down on his side of the
bed. “I’ll see you in a bit.”
Emil watched as Connor’s took Chloe’s hands and the two of them walked out just as Connor waved him good bye.
“So, what’s the verdict?”
Emil opened the folder he carried and shrugged. “You look like you’re in perfect health. The doctors will be doing their check-ups before they release you, then I can do our own check-up in the lab just to make sure nothing was missed.”
Oliver nodded and leaned against the bed. It was really weird seeing everything so well. Despite his years as the Green Arrow, he had yearly eye check-ups and knows that his eyes were in perfect condition. But seeing everything now, it just seemed clearer.
“Are you alright, Oliver?”
“Yeah, I am.”
Emil just nodded, but he didn’t miss the look of curiosity in Oliver’s eyes.
