great lead up to the introduction of Hephaestion .The whole scene was so descriptive I could picture it in my mind .Can't wait for the next chapter .

For introducing and getting to know Hephaestion like that I can most definitely assure you that I do understand why Alexander did fall head over heals for him.

Your story is truly great. I'll keep reading.

Alexander hasn't quite fallen head-over-heels yet. Or at least, not as much as he will, later. ^_^ I hope you like the following chapters too!

I agree completely about Hephaestion portrayed as a "paragon of talent, virtue, intelligence, beauty and charm." Sounds too close to a Mary Sue! (Someone, anyone, please virtually hit me if I do that to Hephaestion!) I've tried not to do that, even in this fic that got kicked off with Moon71's "love at first sight" perception of the book's scene. Though, my own bias for Hephaestion often gets in the way...

I happen to think questionable morality and silly mishaps, and even a temper, rather fun - in fictional characters, anyway. ^_^ Hm, could one survive in Macedon back then without something of a temper? ...
