"I've brought you something to eat, but no rum. My father says rum is the devil's beverage."
"Thank you, Miss Swann."
Will was ravenous. Elizabeth watched him eating while chatting about pirates. Pirates were of greatest interest to her. Had he seen any? Had his ship been attacked by them? What did he think of pirates? Questions rained down on Will, confusing him.
"Miss Swann, I think young Mr. Turner is very exhausted. Let's see to it that he eats before you further interrogate him."
Will smiled gratefully at Norrington, and to his great surprise, the stern lieutenant smiled back.
