It was late in the hunt and we were tired.

Heh... I'm glad I saw this post just after today's unicycling... otherwise it might have led to another bout of wanting to be in the bay area like everyone else.

Also, I'm curious about the puzzle hunt - Google had a couple scavenger hunts run by a group called Shinteki that sound vaguely like what you described. Was this them, or are there other groups in the area that do this?

Shinteki are a professional organization. They will run a hunt for your corporation in exchange for legal tender.

http://www.bayareanightgame.com/index.php?title=Main_Page are amateurs; their rule is that whoever wins the hunt is tagged to run the next one. (A given hunt may be run multiple times, eg, Sat/Sun, or mirrored in Seattle and SF, so this is in theory more than stable.)

http://playdash.org/ are a new group. It's not clear what motivates its volunteers.
