I hope you find an answer. I've been struggling with low energy (not sleepiness) lately, which is frustrating in a different way. I struggle to get 5-6 hours of sleep and often think that is a source of many issues. But to your larger point - yes! Learning that you may be neurodivergent or have a brain chemistry issue/sleep disorder isn't meant to be an excuse, it's meant to help you find more ways to understand your natural tendencies and work with them instead of against them! (And for where the world is less forgiving, find ways to cope...) Good luck!

You're right that it's easy to use those reasons for why things are the way they are as a crutch - many people will say, "Oh, I have such-and-such and so that excuses blah blah blah," which feels counter-productive. But you're also right that it's good to know the reason why; it gives you more understanding and something to actually work toward! Best of luck with your journey; I hope you get things figured out and are able to work your way toward good health. :)

I hope it all gets figured out! I remember having a similar experience learning that I'm autistic, feeling relief that it wasn't my fault I'm "lazy" in some people's minds. I'm just built differently. It helped me forgive myself for perceived failings.
