It seems I can only write disturbing things, depressing things, and crack.

Matsuda was minding his own business.  Or at least he thought he was. It was late enough that he expected HQ to be empty when he went back to get his jacket, which he’d left there by mistake that afternoon. As usual, however, Matsuda was incorrect.  He shook his head when he recognized the two voices. He didn’t know why Light and Ryuuzaki stayed so late at work.  Well, Ryuuzaki he could understand, being almost as renowned for insomnia as he was for investigation, but Light was…normal.  Right?  Matsuda hid behind the door for a minute, worried about being chastised for the billionth time by the world’s greatest detective, and silently peeked inside before deciding if he should enter.

What he saw fairly traumatized him, but he couldn’t look away.

At first it looked like Light and L had gotten into another fight. L had climbed onto Light’s chair and was holding him by the back of the neck, to which Light reacted by grabbing the detective’s shirtfront and shoving him back onto the desk.  L knocked over a jar of pencils with his hand as his back struck the desk, and the younger boy pinned his arms down.  Matsuda began to worry.  What was Light-kun doing?  Was he trying to hurt Ryuuzaki?  Could he possibly be Kira after all?  No, that wasn’t it; the callous detective had probably just pissed him off.

Only then did he see that Light had pulled Ryuuzaki’s pants down, and his boxers too, and suddenly Matsuda was seeing more of the nameless man than he had ever hoped to see.  Bu he couldn’t stop watching - it was too shocking, too fantastic.  Light and Ryuuzaki…were…?

There was no mistaking it; Light was very clearly giving Ryuuzaki a blowjob. They were no longer struggling with each other.  How many times had they done this before?  How long had this been going on without him - or anyone on the task force - knowing?  Now Light was pushing Ryuuzaki’s legs apart, and unfastening his own belt. They were going to - they were - oh god, no, not there, why?  Half-covering his eyes, as if viewing a horror film, he watched Light fuck Ryuuzaki hard and fast over the computer desk. If he’d had four hands, he would have half-covered his ears as well. He did not need to hear Ryuuzaki moaning in pleasure as the chief’s son banged him in the ass.   Really.  He didn’t.  But why couldn’t he stop watching?

In a few minutes it was over.  Matsuda just stared as Light zipped his pants back up and handed Ryuuzaki a handful of tissue.  Ryuuzaki cleaned up quickly, put on his jeans, and went back to crouch in his chair as if nothing had happened.  Matsuda stared for a few more seconds.  Light was reading data files. L was eating cake.

Matsuda had to talk to somebody about this.  Anybody.  Though, Chief Yagami was probably a bad choice. Unfortunately, it was Chief Yagami who came into the coffee room the next day, when Matsuda was fixing morning drinks.

“Hi, Chief!” said Matsuda with a nervous smile.

“Good morning, Matsuda,” Soichiro replied. He seemed to be in good spirits, which was more unusual than it used to be for the overworked chief.

Masuda shuffled his feet nervously.  “Pardon me for asking this, but…regarding Light-kun…”

Soichiro just looked at him.

“Light and Misa-Misa…are they exclusive?”

“That’s their business. Why do you ask me?”

“Because…well…”

“Listen, Matsuda, I know Amane-san is a very attractive girl -“

“No, that’s not it, actually -“

Chief Yagami raised his eyebrows and exhaled slowly.  “Matsuda, if you are interested in becoming involved with my son…”

“Nononononono!  That’s definitely not it either!”  Dammit, he had gone about this all wrong.

“Well, if that were the case, Matsuda, let’s just say you would not be the first member of this task force to feel that way about Light.”

“I don’t feel that way about Light!”

“Good.” Chief Yagami patted him on the back.  “Good to hear.”

Soichiro left just as Mogi was entering the coffee room.  Matsuda’s spirits lightened. Mogi was someone he could share with.  After all, it wasn’t like he talked enough to spread any rumors.

“Hey, Mogi-san,” said Matsuda, pouring coffee for both of them.  “Have you ever noticed how, um, close Light-kun and Ryuuzaki are lately?”

Mogi nodded.

“I had a crazy thought, it’s probably nothing, but you don’t think they’re, um…”

Mogi nodded again.

“Well, I - ” Matsuda did a double take at Mogi’s straightforward answer.  “Wait, you do?  Was that a yes?  I’m not the only one who…gets that vibe from them?”

“Everybody knows about that, Matsuda,” said Mogi, taking his coffee cup and walking away.  It was the longest sentence he’d said all week.
