1. boot camp.
Eight weeks of basic training in Great Lakes, IL.
As nervous as I am about boot camp, I'm really excited.
According to friends, it's a lot of folding clothes & a lot of yelling.
I can do that.
2. School Assignment
Get assigned a language based on skill level [which I have according to the DLAB],
and previous knowledge [of which I have none according to me.]
This all happens in Monterey, California.
Which means you should be jealous.
3. Monterey, California.
2 Weeks of head start classes for the language.
Then 25-65 weeks of training.
By the end - I'll be ultra cool & bilingual.
4. San Angelo, Texas
4-19 weeks of more school.
5. More school/ finally done
4 Weeks of survival school in Pensacola, Florida
& 2 more weeks in Sen Diego
If I was super bad ass, I would get to go to a special warfare training school.
But I don't want to.
Basically, I'm really excited.
I graduated from high school two years ago.
And I don't feel I've done anything impressive with my life since.
I didn't go the college route, I didn't get a real job.
I did just enough to scrape by.
& I didn't like it unless I was too sloshed to know which way was up.
But now
I have a real life job that only smart people can do.
I have health, dental, & life insurance.
I have a steady paycheck & an excellent promotion rate.
I will have a college degree from the Joint Military Intelligence College.
I will be a veteran during time of war for the rest of my life.
Oh - and I'm really happy.
Double oh - I'm going to be warm the entire time.
Adios, nieve!
All I have to do until April 24th
is not get caught screwing up.
and not get pregnant.
Piece of cake.
