Ah, come on. Good hockey is good hockey. There's something I really like about sitting in a restaurant watching the game and knowing that all over the country other people are sharing that experience. The waitresses all sat down, the kitchen staff came out to watch the game. There was just this expectant silence for the length of the overtime.

ugh, you know what, it's a big fucking shiny (GOLD!) distraction from issues and realities that should scare people shitless/into action. that's my issue with The Games.

... It's fun. It's fun to watch the game and get that tight feeling in your chest as they go into OT. Look, I'm not arguing that there aren't plenty of situations that really need our attention. I know that there are a load of issues which need to be addressed. Everyone has something to distract themselves, even the most dedicated people in the world can't do it all the time. Sometimes everyone gets to have a little fun.
