Last night, I was having some weird post-apocalyptic sci-fi-ish kind of dream. I was walking down this corridor, everything all metallic-looking. At the intersection of a couple of these corridors, I saw my mom. I was surprised to see her and wondered what she was doing there, but then I thought weird things happen in dreams. I occasionally have ( Read more... )

I have trouble staying up in dreams when I fly as well...it's very strange. I think my brain starts to resist the unrealistic nature of my environment and refuses to help create it. It will, however, allow me something similar to flying with large weightless leaps and bounds.

That is the first thing I always do when I am lucid.

Usually I jump up in the air and then jump again while I am still up in the air.

If I go too far out of sight of the ground, I get lost. So mostly, I just run around about ten feet off the ground. It is a lot of fun.

I've only had one flying dream, and in this dream, I could fly about six inches above the ground. Not especially useful, but it was still cool. I've never had a lucid dream.

Lucid dreaming is where you actively change your dreams, yes? I try not to change my dreams much- they are usually more interesting if I let them be. I only do that if I think they are turning into nightmares. (ie, if I am running running running from something scary, I make myself turn around) I do have fabulous flying dreams, though. Pretty much your typical flying around looking at the earth and feeling very powerful. Woosh!

Lucid dreaming is being aware of the fact that you're dreaming, while still in the dream. In this case, I sort of felt like I woke up but was still in the dream setting. I couldn't have continued in the story or talked to my mom or whatever, any more than I could have if I had woken up completely. I could, however, still move around in the environment, so that's what I did.
