Swanky vegetarian food in San Francisco? No problem

Also have breakfast at Boogaloo's in the Mission (Valencia and... 21st, I think. Right next door to the awesome Aquarius Records). Their vegetarian herb gravy is amazing.

The Millennium Restaurant http://www.millenniumrestaurant.com/ You must experience this place. Unbelievably awesome.

Cafe Gratitude in the Mission is a great choice, but it's not swanky. Go there for lunch.

Another yummy option is the Stinking Rose Restaurant - not entirely vegetarian, but great if you love garlic. http://www.thestinkingrose.com/

I love San Francisco. I hope you enjoy!

I was going to suggest the Stinking Rose...but then I thought...

Is a restaurant based around garlic appropriate for an anniversary. Also, I found their vegetarian dishes to be lackluster....but maybe it was just that one time.

The Bagna Calda haunts my dreams though.

I went here last summer and it was really nice. Unfortunately swim suits are required on their only co-ed day. Silly prudish North America!

Blue Bottle Coffee, in their location right next to the Old US Mint, features a Japanese "siphon bar" brewing apparatus that is intensely steampunk, and allegedly produces staggeringly good coffee besides.

The Trappist in Oakland serves exclusively* Belgian ales in a nice, cozy environment. Perfect after a browse of Endgame, just three blocks away.

The spinach-mushroom deep dish pizza at Zachary's Pizza in Berkeley and/or Oakland is better than anything that has meat in it anywhere in the world.

If you're willing to go as far as Oakland or Berkeley, there's a place called Sergio's Trattoria a little farther along in San Ramon. HUGE portions, so go hungry, and EVERYTHING is delicious. They even make their own lemon liqueur (served with/as dessert). Schwanky in an elegant, understated way, a bit pricey ($20+/plate), but I'm hoping to use it for my own anniversary this month. :)
