I thoroughly enjoyed my volunteer day at the Museum of London yesterday. They are repacking all their shawls, so my job was to take each shawl out of the open plastic tray it was in, remove the old tissue paper, wrap or fold it in new tissue, list it for information and put it into a closed archive box. I'll get back to you. JennylaFleur told me how to post stuff behind a cut, but I don't think I have anywhere I want to host it, as at the moment it is not public knowledge. I'll have to e-mail it to you, once I have made it up!!

Sounds like you had a wonderful day! ANd I'd dearly love the diagram, if it's not too much trouble. :-)

I DO know about this, but didn't know what it was called. There were two assuit shawls in the collection yesterday - the curator has an article on that kind of work she is going to give me next time I go in. Boy, were they HEAVY!!! Very beautiful, and untarnished, after many years. I didn't check the dates as that was not yesterday's job.
