What is it about linen?

Can anyone tell me why I keep buying linen? I have just spent an hour ironing two linen shirts and I HATE ironing. I have a steam generator iron, iron it damp and all the rest. Yet my mouth keeps saying, "OOh, linen! Yes, I'll take that." while my mind is going "Noooo!! Think of the ironing!" And I am planning to buy some more linen at a re- ( Read more... )

Because linen is such a lovely fabric to wear. It's worth the ironing. :)

hmm because it is versatile? comfy? period appropriate for almost any era? challenging? or the best reason...because it's ON SALE ?

Considering the most linen I buy is for me, the "period appropriate" thing doesn't necessarily work. But I do like the feel as I get very hot and bothered in the summer, so it helps. Also I am too fat to wear flimsy fabrics and linen is at least lightweight as a rule. And ys, at £5.00 per metre, that helps!!
