This evening I was hemming some muslin ruffles for a shirt (that's English muslin - fine see through type) using what I find is a very quick method. You pick up lots of tiny stitches on the needle before pulling the thread through - you can hem about 4" on one needle full. I do hem very fine material that way, but I'm so happy that YOU do because I've always felt a bit guilty doing it. Like I was cheating by not taking one stitch at a time. Silly Midwestern indoctrination making me feel like I'm supposed to do things the hard way.

I too thought this hand sewing method was cheating or unprofessional. Glad to know I'm not the only one. It' the way I hem my pants.
