Had a lovely morning at the Museum of London, where I am a volunteer. I was helping one of the curators store some shawls. The first one was a huge 1845-1860 67" wide by 140" or more long, the kind you fold across the oblong to make a smaller oblong. It was of silk jersey look stuff, which turns out to be "leno". So that first shawl is a good example of the infamaous pass-through-a-wedding-ring shawls? They all sound amazing:)

I don't wear my wedding ring (fingers swell!) but I would have been sorely tempted to try it had I had one. I think the curator, who is charming and helpful, would have been horrified!!
