Actually, I think the art's decent. It's not great, but it's a helluva lot better than say, Dark Empire. Still, I'll agree that Dark Horse has done waaaay better.
I'm a bit surprised how detailed of an adaptation this seems to be. True, they've got some of the details wrong (though I can't help but wonder if Pellaeon's appearance hadn't been nailed down when this was drawn) but most of it's pretty close to what I recall from the novels.
What is it with people and liking this art? All the villains have the same elongated facial shape! Eh, no accounting for taste, and I still prefer the art for Dark Force Rising.
Mike Baron - he worked on Dark Empire, too - adapted the trilogy to the comic. He's known for resisting decompression; important events happen in very few pages, which among other things makes finding the right pages to exclude rather painful. I think he was afraid to stray from the source material, because he really doesn't do it.
