Even if you do think Michael Bay sucks, Optimus Prime was one dead sexy robot, no? Still, if you're not into fictitious robots, Shia LaBeouf (I don't know how to spell his fucking name) was adorable and I wanted to hug him and Bumblebee throughout the entire flick. If that isn't the girly-est thing to say about Transformers, then I don't know what is...
Anyway, best robot movie I've ever seen. What movie tops your "Awesome movies about robots" list?
Yeah. I went into the movie thinking that it was going to be over-the-top with a lot of bells and whistles (because they can) so I wasn't disappointed. For what it was, I really liked it. But I totally understand what you mean.
Yay. Glad you liked it, Joy. I sent my copy off to my friend Dan in New York and he thought it was a lot of fun too. Great pop-corn flick and if there is any movie that you know is going to be a simple popcorn summer movie, Transformers is certainly it. Now watch Spiderman 3.
Daniel's stepsister likes this movie a lot and when she explained it, it went something like this:
"I watched it with Thomas [her son] in the movie theaters and he kept going, 'Oh! This is my favorite part!....No, wait, this is my favorite part!...No, no, no, this is my favorite part'"
So I thought, well, I better check it out. If it gets reviews like that from a thirteen year old boy...then it HAS to be Oscar worthy!
Exactly. The movie is what it is. I mean, hell...it was based off of a cartoon aimed at like 9 year olds. Admittedly, this movie isn't really geared towards 9 year olds, but it can be enjoyed by anyone who likes very simple good versus evil kind of battles with great special effects, explosions, action, and the like. It also had a pretty good sense of humor which is another one of the reasons why I enjoyed it. I mean, I know you were joking, but Transformers is not an Oscar worthy movie (except in the production department). Who cares though? It had a plot that kept the action pace constantly up and gave you characters that you wanted to relate to or at least care about (I mean...who isn't a bummed out when Bumblebee gets taken down because he won't fight the humans?). That level of character development and plot ain't Shakespeare, but it certainly is enough to create a very entertaining experience in my book.
