I've watched two movies recently that don't offer a single happy moment. They are probably two of the most depressing films I've ever seen, actually. But they are both really spectacular:

Dear Zachary: A Letter to His Son About His Father is a documentary about a guy -- a funny, witty, life-of-the-party doctor -- who started dating this much

I think I'll have to pass on Amores Perros, but Dear Zachary sounds like a must!
