Let's get right to it, shall we?

Movies:

  • Dance 'Til Dawn was every 80s teen-directed sitcom and/or every episode of "Saved By The Bell" all wrapped up into one movie. April requested it. She thinks it's the best movie ever made. I would have rather sniffed dog doo on a stick. Did the 80s really happen?
  • Zodiac was beautifully shot and edited ( Read more... )

You are coming to SF, eh? That's awesome! You'll love it here. I really like that couchsurfing site and met a few people while they are couchsurfing in Seattle from Italy! Also, I wish I had a place to offer you.

Yep! I'll be in SF. I can't wait! I'm really looking forward to eating at some really interesting places and tasting the Lactobacillus Sanfranciscensis. Yum! :)

Yep. I'm a food geek.

Okay...I never said that Dance Til Dawn was the best movie ever. It's a great awful 80s movie that is as awful/awesome as it was when I was a kid.

I'm just surprised anybody's career survived that movie. :)

* 12 Deadlifts
* 9 hang power cleans (where you start with the bar by your thigh and yank it up to your neck)
* 6 push jerk (bar by your chin, you jump-push it up to full arm extension)

Similar to our WoD today! We did:
* 10 Deadlifts
* 10 Hang Power Cleans
* 20 Back Extensions
* 20 Sit Ups
* 10 Push Press
* 10 Pull Ups
x 3 Rounds

I was pretty stoked that I killed it in 8:51. Still can't do unassisted pull ups though...blech. Eventually.

Oh, and hi - I added via gymrats

My pull-ups are getting better by the day. I'm now able to do all three rounds of the Crossfit warm-up without any of the bands. When I first started back in January, I could only do one pull-up, and I didn't even get all the way to my chin. My form isn't perfect, and I still don't get all the way to my lower neck every time, but I am pulling up under my own power, and I feel really good about progress. :)

How much weight did you use for your deadlifts, HPCs, and push press?

And I added you back! :)

My pull ups are definitely getting better - the first time I started CF (I did it a few months last summer and then went back in January) I was using either the blue (largest) band or a blue and a purple (smallest) together. Now I can race through them on green (medium) and am working on the purple. My goal is to start doing unassisted by the end of the summer. There's only a couple women in the gym that do unassisted, and I really want to be in that group. Well that, and I can't get my times on the leaderboard for a lot of benchmarks until I can do unassisted pull ups. :)

65# was prescribed for women, which is what allowed me to race through it. I'm not necessarily that great with bodyweight stuff, but power and oly lifts and stuff like that? Yeah, that's my bread and butter. If I did this one again, I'd probably try it at the men's Rx'd (95#) and see what happens - I'd probably take more like 14-15, but it would be cool to see.
