i'll be the first to say that stevie ray was a god, but buddy guy turned mary had a little lamb into a blues jam first then stevie ray covered it.

buddy guy is another guitar player all to frequently left out of the greatest guitarists ever list. he is one of both stevie rays and claptons heros.

dont get me wrong. i LOVE stevie. but i dont think i can say he's overated. he gets tons and tons of recognition. during his life and afterward. yes the man could play the shit out of the guitar, anybody who listened to him would understand that. what else could you say about him? he liked big hats?

before i started listening to music
before i started playing guitar
before i even LISTENED to stevie ray vaughn i knew who he was and i knew he played guitar.

I agree completely. I don't think anyone would argue that he was a guitar god. Everybody knows that Stevie kicks ass.
