My other half is in his 3rd yr of doing an OU degree having dropped out from Newcastle uni nearly 10 years ago and although it eats alot into his free time he is getting along far better studying this way than he ever did while in full time education. It's all about learning styles, this one suits him and you may find it better for you too. Fingers crossed, p.s. i got a thud due to being crap at studying myself and although it was crap at the time I got through it OK.
Thanks :) Don't get me wrong - I may be in huge amounts of debt and end up with a rubbish degree but I'm happy i spent all that time at Lampeter... it just didn't do much for my already-crappy routine. Ho hum.
ditto. I've not even started paying off my student loan you know. Every year I just defer it again. Good job I've got the old style loans I guess. Ho hum. If I ever win the lottery I'll pay it off straight away!
Oh dear me, yes. Student loans... I'm not sure if I'm part of the year that will get paid off at 65 or not. I do know that they keep sending me increasingly scary statements however. I'm not even including that when I talk about being 'in debt'... But err... Lovely day we're having!
Well I've started taping boxes together now. It really is astonishing just how much stuff you can pile up in a year!
As for my degree... well at one point I'd left uni for good, so even a drinkers degree should be something for me to be proud of, on the one hand... I won't pretend that I'm not a tiny wee bit disappointed with myself at the same time, though ;)
Well done John, I remember when you were debating your return to university and all the unconfidence and doubts that assailed you but now you can be proud and rightly so of all your achievements, I hope your as proud of your achievements as we all are.
We do indeed, but thats about as exciting as it gets. The old St Davids academic dress (from before Lampeter being part of the University of Wales) was far more interesting... with ermine fur and everything... we just get plain old silk. No fun at all.

From my own experiences of packing up to leave lancaster, i have to say, get it started as soon as you can!

I'll be sure that you see photos of me in my ridiculous graduation gear when the time comes.

Unless you intend to pursue an academic career, just having a university degree will be suficient for most purposes.
Have a fun-filled summer to reward your accomplishment.
