I swear in the last year and a half or so all anyone has ever heard from me is my damned boy trouble. I just asked out a guy that i've had a crush on for about 6-7 months and he told me he was "too busy right now" because he graduates in 6 weeks. If that's not the chicken-shittest answer.... right now I feel like hating anyone who hasn't felt any

*hugs* I can't say anything very helpful, because I had pretty much the same situation at your age. But it doesn't stay the same forever.
You are dead right to stay away from the popular guys, because they are jerks. Part of why it can be so hard to get with guys when you're a teenager is that teenage boys are often really immature, more than girls of the same age. They don't really know how to recognise a good thing when they see it, and even the nice guys are a lot more shallow and immature than they will be in a few years. And I think some are probably just plain scared - especially the geeky ones. Your problems are more to do with them than with you, and all you can really do is wait for them to grow up a little.
(The only tip I ever got on this from a boy was from my ex, when I told him that asking guys out had always been a disaster for me, he said that asking freaks guys out and you need to be much more indirect about it. ...I don't know how you do that exactly, but I thought I should mention it anyway.)
