you know where i can get a remanufactured head cheaper than 300ish? i am looking around but i feel like i am doing so with my eyes closed. and this isnt performance related--it's my "head has a f'n crack in it" related.

Depends on the car. What kind of car/motor/year?

How did you manage that? :)

You may want to poke around some of the honda performance boards, specifically the local chapters near to you. Someone might have a head sitting the garage that you could take off their hands. As you know, the first thing anyone does when building out a civic is to yank that SOHC non-vtec motor in favor of a B18 or B20.

Just keep in mind that you won't want to go any older as the heads, I think, are different from the OBD-I and OBD-II eras.

no i honestly prefer a exact replacement from a machinest...but i dont have $500. someone has a vtec for me, but i worry about screwing around with aftermarket engine things. plus i tend to have bad luck. when other people's cars overheat, they blow a gasket. i crack a head. hell, i cracked a toyota block once too. i just have bad luck with cooling systems. when i bought my car, the crack must have been minor and just progressed over the summer. itll drive still, just feels like it has a wicked misfire and the coolant is disappearing, just not into the oil or onto the ground. i wont be driving it like that, im scared of blowing up the engine.(good thing i have a back up car) anyway, thanks for the idea---i wouldnt have even thought of that=)
