I've had my hard drive replaced, and Windows re-installed on my computer, both of which operations I had done by professionals, allowing them to back up my data and copy it onto the refurbished machine. Aside from having needed to replace the battery, it runs quite nicely these days, despite being nearly 5.5 years old.

I've never had a PC laptop last me less than 36 months (3 years). Heck, I have a 2001-vintage Compaq that, last I checked, still worked.
