Ridiculous Music Post
Stealing this idea from Daniel. (I think this is the second time a bunch of us have stolen his post idea. Oops. Maybe I'll come up with something cool by myself. Some day.)
My descriptions aren't going to be as long or in-depth, because I'm A LAZY ASS concise. Totally.

This is the theme song of my life. Basically my screwed up family/ANYONE stupid/but mostly my family makes me cray, and then I listen to this on repeat for 24 hours. No one decides what I'm going to do in my life but me. End of story. The lyrics are so great. Just listen to that intro. It summarizes how I feel COMPLETELY.

I worship love Vanessa and think all her music is flawless, but. A lot of her songs are about specific points in life, while "More Than This," this beautiful, beautiful, perfect song with AMAZING choral performance in ups and downs, covers life in a huge spectrum and I feel like tearing up almost every time I listen to it. Anyone reading this can relate to this song, because you are living. /I'm done now sorry.
"Come Back Down" - Greg Laswell feat. Sara Bareilles
All of your wallowing is unbecoming / all of your wallowing is unbecoming
You've got to take it on your own from here / it's getting pathetic
And I'm almost done / here
If I'm ever sad, I listen to Greg Laswell. His music is SO uplifting. This song in particular (with Sara!!) finally brought to my attention to stop bitching about life so much and just get as much of a handle on it as I can. (Short descriptions, I told you.)
"Go Your Own Way" - Fleetwood Mac
You can go your own way / go your own way
You can call it another lonely day
This is one of those songs that makes me want to get up and dance. (When only my cats are home. Obviously.)
"Edge of Seventeen" - Stevie Nicks
Just like the white-winged dove / sings a song / sounds like she's singin'
said whooo, baby / whooo / whooo
I have a thing for sweet, shiny pop music, but, as you can tell, I also have an equally strong thing for raw, emotional music. And THIS song. It's about the death of one of Stevie's relatives, as well as the death of John Lennon. It's about violent death that hurts in general, and, in the vein of Florence + the Machine, who I'll get to, you can tell that she put so much feeling into this song when she wrote it. Also, Stevie is, like, best friends with Vanessa and that makes me really happy.
"Shake it Out" - Florence + the Machine
Regrets collect like old friends / here to relive your darkest moments

And all of the ghouls come out to play / and every demon wants his pound of flesh
I'm always dragging that horse around / tonight I'm gonna bury that horse in the ground
SO. GOOD. SQUEE-SOUND. AHHH. ...um. Right. So, this song, and the album as a whole, is largely about regrets and the past, and how worrying about it and letting thoughts about it run in your head is pointless and stupid. Also about dumbasses who get on your back and keep you from doing what you want to do.
"Superhero" - Simon Curtis
Stand up / everybody look alive / said come on, come on, come on
We're gonna get it now
Hands up if you're ready for a fight
I don't need you to believe in me / I know how to change my destiny
Sit down / about to rewrite our history
(Nooow we get to the pop! Which, admittedly, in this post, there will be less, but still.) This sexy bitch knows how to write songs. Pretty self-explanatory on what it's about.

Awesome song. I don't really think about (nonexistent) breakups, but it's still great.
