I was asked to do this for
this pic. And dig the icon
samjack_girl made for me! *loves*
I use PS7.
*Credit/resources are
here.
And especially sice this is NOT an icon tutorial
here Not too dial up friendly.
1. Create a new document in the desired size, select the pics and arrange them. Blend them together by erasing th uneccessary parts. I had this with a black background:
2. The usual. We dublicate the pics. This depends on the brightness of those pics you have chosen. I did the following:
- dublicate the Liz on the right once, setting to soft light and desaturating.
- dublicate Liz with backpack twice, desaturating both dublicates, setting the first one to soft light, the second to screen with an opacity of 33%
- gate-Liz dublicated once set to screen and desaturated
- John and Liz small both dublicated once and set on screen
sharpen at will
and you have something like this:
3. So now we are not doing it the way I did it. I figured out the coloring of the brushes after I had applied all the textures and gradients. But I talk you through my layers from bottom to top. So we choose square/border brushes in this color: #F26522 And apply them each on a new transparent layer.
4. Now we use a paint brush in #982628 and appliy it on a new and transparent layer.
5. Another paint brush, again in the same red but where I wanted to have the lyrics.
6. New layer, fill it with #0A182C and set it to exclusion.
7. Create a new layer, fill it with a gradient from #764934 to #90643D. Set it to multiply. The bright spots you see are created by the dodge tool so that I can see Liz's pretty face.

8. New transparent layer. A new brush in white.
9. A new layer, filled with a gradient from #DBC99E to #D0C5AF. Set it to overlay (and I almost had stopped there...)
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v432/jr_moon/Lifejournal/understand10.jpg)
->
10. Create a new layer and add a little square brush in #A2BAC9. Set to color dodge.
(Will make sense when the whole textures are on top)
11. Create another transparent layer, use a blurry brush, set it to color dodge so that you know what you are doing and apply blots in the right places with the same color.

(I used this to brighten those spots that were too dark because of the textures which will follow soon)
12. Speaking of which...take this one and put it on top. Set it to multiply and use the dodge tool to brighten areas that are too dark.

13. See almost there. Text. Font: century gothic, Size: 3pt ( I had a resolution on the pic of 300dpi because I wanted to print it...you choose the size), trackin 240. Lyrics: Melissa Etheridge -The different, color the same light blue, fill reduced to 30%
14. Another texture. I mutulated it big time:

Set it to soft light. I erased the parts that made the pic too bright. And we are done. Questions?
