If your life flashes before your eyes before you die, does that mean the hallmarks or every boring day youve had as well? and when your life flashes before your eyes, are you given a remote?
How existential...mollyxAugust 7 2006, 19:18:47 UTC
I think what happens is the hallmarks go by and the little, tiny details of everyday life you didn't think you valued come up. Not the time where you're sitting around, waiting for work or something. They're the last flashes before you get killed, dude. Time is of the essence.

well if time and space are relative then the flashes may seem to take forever. same way that dreams may last minutes but feel like hours or days. and if you are truly about to die there would be a large transfer of bodily energy (feeling of shock)which could also pu t you in a semi-aware state that can last a long time.

well for strictly scientific purposes, we are considering that say there is no soul and the life flashing before your eyes is a defense mechanism from your brain. a form of escapism. So for example your body goes into shock, your brain puts you in an REM like state to shield your mental capacity for impending death. same as a hallucination. hence 10 seconds could feel like 10 hours.

Like a REM state of mind, despite the extent of time it would actually take for the transfer of the soul to occur?
