25 Years ago today, the USMC suffered their worst single-day of casualties since WWII. They were the first casualties of what we are only now recognizing as a generation-long struggle against a religiously-motivated group of fanatics intent on targeting and ultimately destroying our way of life. A family friend was thrown out of his bunk that night, he woke up in the air, he hit the ground and started getting his gear as fast as he could. He could almost hear and isn't sure if it was temporary hearing loss, a minor concussion or shock, he could hear okay in a couple of hours. They were rushing to secure a wider perimeter and repel assault, some dressed in underwear and a helmet, not aware of how much damage had been caused or what had actually happened yet.
