I'm so glad I found this community. My god.
A few weeks ago, I was playing hangman with my friends because we had nothing else to do, for our homeroom teacher was absent and we weren't changing classes. Anyway, my word was, "L.O.V.E. NYAPPY" because my friends told me to make it easy, and this one girl, she's a total wannabe, was like, "OH! I know ( Read more... )

Sometimes hearing people pronounce it wrong is annoying, but only when I know that they're one of those people who try to be a know-it-all (then fail without realising it..?) It just makes them look really stupid to those of us who know better. If it's someone who is just being humble about it, then yeah I don't really have a problem because it's all about trial and error..

As for the copying thing, I have a friend like that...she grew up in church and listening to musicals and being into classical music and just...more "proper" stuff I guess? And then she started listening to EBM and shit like that with me and my friend, and it seemed like she was just trying to fit in with us, and started smoking like my friend did because she liked him and she just pisses me off altogether because she's a fucking drama queen but ANYWAY...yeah. o.o;;

I never faced a copycat after elementary school. You said you are in 8th grade. Well, you could maybe tell her "Do you really like what your sister is listening to, or are you just trying to make friends? Because you'd be a lot cooler if you just did your own thing instead of copying others all the time." It worked in elementary school, anyway.

She might also be the type of person who really hasn't discovered who she is and what she likes yet. My brother was like that until I moved away for college. He used to be a sheep, but now he's more of a leader-type.

If you don't like her and don't want to be her friend, just tell her to get lost (in a nice way). If you want to be her friend, then you've got a really great opportunity to spend time with someone who shares your interests and is eager to learn. In high school I only had one friend who liked what I liked (which was at the time anime) and I was really grateful I had someone to watch Slayers with. Ha, nostalgic...
