A shift of focus

My love of cooking tends to wander from one flavorprint to another. I've been floating in the Carribean for a long while now, but suddenly I'm obsessed with German food and cuisine from the rest of central Europe and Scandinavia. I wonder if my family would even try gravlax...

Flavorprint? I've never heard that one!

I keep using "flavor profile" but I think it sounds so pretentious sometimes. Ah, the perils of being a foodie!

Flavor profiles are more specific: chocolate & spice, garlic & honey, etc. Flavorprint refers to the broader range of flavors (and flavor profiles) represented in the cuisine of a given region or culture. How's that for pretentious?
