I just finished reading EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE, probably about an hour ago.

I am again, totally blown-away, maybe even more than I was when I read EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED a few years ago.

For those who have read the former book, have you tried to or been able to decode the number-message from pg269 to 271? I think that 69626347 is ( Read more... )

Foer wrote in a letter to an English class that tried to decode it that most of it was meaningless, as the novel is about people who try to communicate, but aren't understood. Only the first few lines can be decoded.

the numbers are written in t9 (what your cell phone uses to predict words when you're typing) so if you type all the numbers onto a cell phone set to t9 you can decode it. this would take a long time though!
