I think the reason (and if not the reason, then certainly a large contributor to the problem) I get sad is because I carry a lot of it all on my own. I don't talk to anyone, I don't let anyone in. So it sits, and it stews, and then gets compounded by whatever the next thing to disappoint me is and before I know it, my body is like a compost heap of ( Read more... )

Ultimately I'm afraid relying at least a bit on other people is necessary in the end but it is also possible (or at least theoretically possible) to find methods of distracting yourself when you realise your thoughts are going in circles/you're sitting and stewing.

Any hobby that takes up a lot of concentration is perfect for this, particularly exercise I believe though I've never tried that more than just taking myself off on a walk occasionally. It just anything to stop the negative thoughts in their track.

Secondly, have you considered a talking therapy to help?
