I think that people are making a comparison between Ukraine and Georgia (??) but I am not sufficiently interested. I can't help thinking that it would have been good if Russia had done something similar in Syria.
But, fundamentally, I just wish people would be nice to each other.
The main reason is quite simply because it looks like a planned invasion and, what's more, if Russia invades we have no way of stopping them. The only positive thing here seems to be that there are a lot of rich Russians with a vested interest in staying on good terms with Europe who will not be happy about this.

Even within the analogy, I'm not sure how the US deciding to send in troops would be seen as a good thing.
