Words To Live By: This is stupid and makes no sense.

So I was driving home a few days ago, and I couldn't see any of the road signs. It was weird. Everything was blurry, like I'd just woken up. I couldn't focus. Then I got "Blurry" by Puddle Of Mudd stuck in my head. It's still there by the way. I keep having flashbacks to 2002-ish when every Spuffy fanvid was made to that damned song. I came home, I ( Read more... )

I'm surprised they're taking so long to give you a diabetes check. I went into a Lloyd's chemist last month, got some advice on what to do to prepare for one, then went in and had one the next morning. I literally walked in and did it, and took a couple of minutes and was either free or didn't cost very much. Maybe that was just blood glucose though, and not a 'proper' diabetes test ( ... )

I think there's the old test, which requires you to fast. There's also a newer test that doesn't require fasting but tests for longer term diabetes markers.

Could be wrong.

Not sure what the latter involves.

Yeah on the jobs thing. I think it's part employers protecting themselves: "Someone may have been killed, but we made sure that the person who killed them ticked all the qualification boxes on our application form".

That would make sense, because I had to fast - that's why I had to go away and come back again, I had to make sure I hadn't eaten for at least 3 hours before the test. If they're testing for long term markers, maybe it's a more involved test that takes longer to set up.

Don't need any qualifications to run the country....

What annoys me is all the adverts for "get this / that qualification and your life will be wonderful". It ain't. It's just as hard as it always was.

Glasses sound expensive. I had to get some last year for the first time, and managed to get away with £50, plus £20 (I think) for optional anti-glare coating.
