Big Dig

After many years of construction and many billions of dollars, the Big Dig tunnel in Boston is leaking. A lot. This bothers me somewhat because I have been driving through it a lot lately. The engineers keep reassuring us that it isn't dangerous, the tunnel won't collapse, and I guess it won't fill up with water and drown us all. And yet it is ( Read more... )

The Big Dig has always been a political and structural mess-they should change the name to the Big Drama. Why should post-Big Dig aftermath be any different?

There are actually two Ikea stores planned. I forget where the other one is gonna be though but it's in MA somewhere. They have cheap couches. Maybe time to replace the one in the dining room! And get a dark color this time.

I can remember the first time I went through what was then the "new" tunnel- I think it was called the Sumner Tunnel then. There was water dripping on the sidewalls in places and I was afraid that some time they'd really leak and everyone would drown. Peeople laughed at me and said that was silly, and I guess it was---but the next time you pick me up at the airport could we go home by way of Lowell or something???????
