This is very well written; interesting to see something from Miranda's point of view on the whole thing. She's always struck me as an interesting character, with her denial of what Cerberus truly is. I could never see a Sole Survivor Shepard as being able to forgive her for some of the things she says, but this is definitely convincing, mostly because of the solid characterization. Nicely done.

I really loved your portrayal of Miranda. I'm not really a fan of her to begin with but you really made her so three dimensional, a woman with strengthes and flaws. I loved her reaction to things, the harsh reality she's trying to run from even though there is no where left to run ( ... )

Wow. I think that's the nicest review I've ever gotten. I'm glad you liked my portrayal of Miranda despite not being a fan. You're right. She keeps trying to run from the truth until she can't, and even then it's hard for her. It's even worse in the second half of the story.

Miranda and Jack are two sides of the same coin. Both are abuse survivors, and both expect to be used. The difference is Miranda embraces her status as a tool. Jack rages, while Miranda's anger burns cold.

Thanks again!

I enjoyed your story. One of the things I think Bioware failed on with Miranda, which would have made her character even better, is right what you touched on - her sexuality. At the beginning she is emotionally attached from everything, even (and especially) her own body, which she views as the product of her father, as opposed to 'her.' Hence the casual attitude towards sex, the revealing clothing, and the self-deprecation (once she starts to open up) about her own character. Then they she and Shephard have that great conversation about what makes a person have worth, with her citing achievements vs. degree of difficulty (hence her achievements are worth less thanks to her genes), while shephard argues with decisions being based on values (I may be giving Shephard a little too much credit here, but that's the feel I got). What would have been EPIC is if she had changed to the battle armor, the appearance pack alternate appearance that is NOT revealing at this point and stuck with it. It would have been a visual sign of the ( ... )
