I had my interview today with the American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ), a center I actually protested against about two years ago. Going into the interview, I had no idea. I thought I had submitted my resume for the Administrative Assistant position in regent University's Admissions Office ( Read more... )

mmmm, an operative on the inside.

I smell sabatoge!!!

Just kidding!

Wow, this is a dilemma. You need the job, but cant not support their values with a clear concience.

Well, what if you accept the job, but at the same time, keep looking for another. In this way, you can have an income, while you look for something that is more suited to your taste.

If you are already employed, the job search is much easier, for some reason employers are attracted to candidates that are already taken.

good luck with this.

My first reaction was to tell you to walk away from it. But, hell, you have to make a living.
I dont see you in this long term, just use it for a few weeks to make ends meet.

I hope I dont sound like a hypocrite for giving you this advice. I am trying to give you balanced advice. You know, acknoeledging your moral dilemma, but at the same time paying attention to the fact that the economy sucks, and miss Twyla needs to work.

good luck sweetie.

Go check out your local ACLU office, maybe they are hiring.

Twy, I'm so sorry sweetheart. I don't know what to tell you. I would have a hard time working somewhere that was against everything I stood for. I'm with Tara, take the job if they offer it and then keep looking.

I *heart* you punkin!

I, too, would hate to sidestep my principles for a job. But this is the real world and you DO need to make a living. I agree with Mandi and Tara. Take the job if its offered, but keep looking for another one. *hugs* Keep your chin up! Believe me, you're not the first person to swallow their principles in order to make a living.

Im torn too, sweetie. Im not in your postion so Id hate to judge. Besides, I loves you too much to judge you!!! But I will say, I hate most hypocrites...They usually dont have reasons for their convictions. You do. You need a paycheck. If offered, take it for now, keep looking and a little sabatoge never hurt the good guys!!!!
Good luck!!!!

:)

As I said when I was desperate, and took a job I despised at a leather goods store (I WILL NEVER wear leather), "Even blood money is still money.".
You should do what you have to for your own sake, and keep looking (like everyone else said, lol). Just think of it as you using them. You are "putting one over" on the people who's views you don't like, and they are PAYING you for it. hehehe

Hope everything works out for ya! ((hugs))
