Looking at the young man fast asleep on his bed, Ryo smiled a lazy smile, a thin cigarette hanging from his lower lip. Ah, to think that a day this horrible had ended this wonderfully. He traced the soft lines of the boy's face (no, not a boy any more, though not quite a man yet) with his eyes, a glint of longing in them as he looked at the slender body covered but not hidden by sky blue sheets. As if feeling he was being watched, Ryo's guest muttered something in his sleep and turned around, kicking at the blankets and revealing a naked shoulder. If Ryo closed his eyes, he could imagine the taste of it on his lips.
The day hadn't started in a particularly good or bad way; the sun had been shining, children on their way to school had been talking loud enough for Ryo to hear in his apartment on the fifth floor. He had showered, made breakfast, read the news on his laptop - and then came the first phone call of the day. It was short, business like, and not one he cared to remember. "The difference is too big," his manager had said, "they still think of you as the guy who hit his girlfriend. They chose someone else for that lead role, someone with a more innocent rep sheet." The man had assured him that yes, everyone was well aware of the fact that it had just been acting, but a lot of his fans were still young, after all, they needed time to adjust.
It had been the third role to pass him by in the last few months. What had supposed to be his big breakthrough, only seemed to stand in the way of his acting career now. His manager was very sorry, as always, but there was nothing they could do but wait.
Ryo had had enough of waiting.
To add to his misery, today was his day off. He liked having time for himself as much as the next person, but today, he knew, would only be spent thinking too much, drinking too much, and playing sad songs on one of his guitars. He would never show anyone, of course, but Ryo didn't handle rejection well.
Only when a second call came, did Ryo smile for the first time that day. It was almost evening by that time and he was in the middle of preparing a simple dinner of cold rice and pork for himself. Glancing at the caller ID, he picked up on the second ring.
"Yo."
His best friend on the other side of the line greeted him in a similar way, sounding both cheerful and rushed at the same time. Ryo instinctively knew Yamapi wanted something from him.
"I'm not cooking for you, I'm almost done already."
This time, the only answer was a few mumbled words. Even Ryo, trained as he was in understanding his friend's murmuring, had to strain his ears to make out anything, and even then it took him a few moments to register the question he was being asked.
"You want me to babysit what?"
Faster muttering this time, and a lot more of it. "Remember how I told you Golf and Mike were going to be in Japan this week for promotion of their new Japanese single? Well, I met them this afternoon, to, ah, how should I say it... to catch up. We've only spoken on the phone since the last time they were here."
Ryo rolled his eyes at the phone, knowing fully well that it was a meaningless gesture with nobody there to witness it. "What does that have to do with-- oh. Don't tell me..." Ryo was a lot of things, but he wasn't stupid. He'd seen Yamapi on the phone with Golf many times, he'd noticed his friend's shining eyes and the occasional whispers he couldn't make out or wished he hadn't heard if he could. He sighed. "So you need the kid out of the way, is that it?"
Yamapi didn't even have the decency to hesitate before agreeing. "I know it's your day off, Ryo-chan, and I wouldn't normally ask this of you, you know that, right? But I can't just leave him alone all night, Yuu-kun is out on a date with some girl I still haven't been introduced to, and Jin... well. I think we both know that isn't an option."
An amused snort was quickly followed by another sigh. "Fine. Maybe if you finally get laid again, you'll be more pleasurable to be around."
And that's why, an hour later, a tall, shy young man entered Ryo's apartment. The two men accompanying him disappeared within a few minutes, staying barely long enough not to look like they were dumping Mike. Which, of course, they were, and everyone in that room knew it. Well, everyone but Mike, perhaps, Ryo thought. There was something innately innocent about him, about the way he waved his brother goodbye and wished him lots of fun, asking for a souvenir if he went anywhere interesting. Ryo couldn't help thinking it was quite captivating. Maybe this day could still be saved.
Another hour later and Ryo had forgotten all about his careful optimism. Trying to get Mike to talk to him was harder than it should be. The boy followed his every move with big eyes, smiled uncertainly whenever he was asked something, but didn't actually speak. Ryo was beside himself with frustration.
"Is there something you'd like to do? Do you like movies? Games?"
Again, all Ryo got in return was a shy smile, this time followed by something that sounded suspiciously much like a giggle. This wasn't going anywhere.
Change of plans.
"I know you speak Japanese," Ryo drawled, inching closer, an action he was rewarded for with even bigger eyes, "I've heard you speak it on TV, and on the phone with Tomo-chan. Now I just need to find out how I can get you to speak to me."
The third phone call of the day seemed to bring a solution, though probably not one his best friend would have approved of.
"Jin? Yeah, I'm home, why? You're bored? Ah, sure, you know the way."
Carelessly throwing the phone onto the ivory white sofa, Ryo smiled at his guest. "We're getting company." His eyes nearly fell out of their sockets when Mike reacted with words for the very first time.
"Jin... Akanishi-san?"
...Figures. Fighting his exasperation at the reason Mike chose to break his silence, Ryo nodded. "Yeah, Akanishi. Did you meet him before?"
Mike shook his head.
"Would you like to meet him?"
Eyes lighting up, Mike nodded. "Very much."
Of course you do. Ryo nodded again. "You're in luck, then. He'll be here in ten minutes."
***
Sure, Ryo himself was a pretty shy person as well, but hadn't he gone out of his way to try to interact with Mike? He'd tried many different things, but none of them had worked. Therefore it was kind of annoying to watch Jin chat with Mike like they'd been friends for ages, making jokes in bad English Ryo mostly failed to understand. For the fourth time that night he retreated into the kitchen to get beer for him and Jin and coke for Mike. (Jin had suggested to give the boy a beer as well, surely only one wouldn't be a problem? But Ryo would rather die than give a minor alcohol, thanks. He'd seen quite enough of that for a lifetime.)
When he returned, Jin was sprawled on his sofa like he owned the place, and Mike had pulled up his legs and sat next to Jin sideways, watching him closely, laughing at things Ryo didn't think were all that funny. He'd seen Jin's act too often to still be affected by it, but it was obvious that the Thai kid was totally mesmerized. Ah, maybe Yamapi had been right to say asking Jin wasn't an option.
Uncapping his beer, Ryo let himself fall onto a seat, staring into the distance, thinking about everything and nothing at all. Yes, this was definitely a bad day, after all. Tomo-chan, you better be having the best night of your life or I'll kill you for this. He blinked in surprise when a soft, hesitant voice addressed him.
"Ano... Nishikido-san?"
Ryo frowned, trying to focus on Mike as his eyes adjusted to actually looking at something solid. "I told you before, you don't have to be that polite, Nishikido-kun is fine."
"Nishikido-kun," Mike repeated dutifully, earning a little chuckle from Jin, who otherwise looked rather lost. He obviously had no idea what Mike was going to say. Well, that was good, Ryo didn't think he could deal with those two ganging up on him right now. "Are you okay? You look... drained?" Mike's voice rose a little, sounding like he wasn't sure if his choice of words was appropriate.
Failing to hide his surprise, Ryo blinked. "I didn't think you were paying attention. It's been a rough day, is all. Don't worry about it." He couldn't deny it felt good, though, to know someone was worrying about him. That didn't mean he didn't frown when Jin suggested that Mike should give Ryo one of those Thai massages he'd been talking about earlier. Luckily (or maybe not?), Mike looked just as shocked.
"Ah, I don't think..." Then, to Ryo's surprise and Jin's hilarity, Mike smirked, displaying a face so totally different it was quite unnerving. "Is just a shoulder massage okay, too?"
Ryo looked from Mike to Jin, giving the latter a look that clearly said he thought Jin had a talent for making things awkward. Mike seemed to be waiting for an answer, though, so in the end Ryo just shrugged uncomfortably, which, Jin told Mike, obviously meant 'go ahead'.
Mike, trusting Jin's judgement, (something that must have been new to Jin), got up from the sofa and made his way over to Ryo's seat, gently taking the beer bottle out of Ryo's hand and putting it on the table. This time it was Ryo who watched Mike with big eyes, still quite unsure about all of this. Mike, however, seemed to relax now that he had some kind of purpose, and moments later his hands were on Ryo's shoulders, making Ryo tense up immediately.
"Relax, Nishikido-kun, I'm not going to hurt you..."
Jin laughed. "Yeah, Ryo-chan, relax. You never complain when I touch you."
Rolling his eyes, Ryo resisted the urge to throw something at his friend's face. "Shut up, Jin. Like I'd ever let you touch me. Who knows where those fingers have been." He did relax, however, much to Mike's contentment, and soon his eyes were closed and soft mewling sounds left his lips no matter how hard he tried to stop them. Damn, he'd really needed this.
Just when Ryo thought he'd fall asleep soon, soft lips brushing against and whispering into his ear made him jump.
"Better now, Nishikido-kun?"
Opening one eye, Ryo looked to the side, marvelling at how close the other's face was. Didn't that boy know about personal space? "Much better, thank you..." He rolled his head from one side to the other and flexed the muscles in his neck and shoulders. Ah, that felt really good. Opening the other eye as well, Ryo was startled when he noticed Jin watching them intently from the couch. "What is it, Akanishi..." His voice sounded wary, like he didn't really want an answer. And maybe he didn't.
Jin grinned wolfishly. "You looked really cute just now, all relaxed under Mike-kun's hands. I haven't seen you like that in a long time. You need to relax more often..."
Oh, hell no. Ryo knew where this was going. They'd had this conversation many times. Usually, 'you need to relax' was followed closely by 'you need to get laid' and it wasn't hard to figure out what Jin was thinking. He's a kid, for Kami-sama's sake. I know he's pretty, but sheesh, Jin, think. Use your brain. I can think of two people who'd kill me without hesitation.
Mike, clueless about the undercurrents in the other men's conversation, nodded vigorously. "Akanishi-kun is right! Nishikido-kun looks like he works all day and doesn't play at all. Tonight, you should play with us, ne."
Trying to ignore Jin's snickering, Ryo took a moment to acknowledge the fact that Mike was actually speaking freely now, apparently no longer nervous around him, or somehow strengthened by Jin's presence. (He seemed to do that to people.) Then, he looked up at Mike, who offered him his brightest smile. He could see Jin waggling his eyebrows from the corner of his eyes. "..." Rather suddenly, Ryo got up from his seat. "I need another drink."
The way Jin smirked at him when he passed him on his way to the kitchen, told him his friend took that as a sign he was giving in. (Which he wasn't. Really. But they were right about one thing. He needed to unwind and play a little.)
When he returned, Mike was once again sitting next to Jin, their heads close together, excited whisperings not quite reaching Ryo's ears. He plopped down on the couch and cleared his throat loudly. "What are you poisoning the boy's head with this time, Bakanishi?"
It was Mike who answered. "He was telling me about the things Tomo-kun does to himself sometimes when he's on the phone with my brother."
...What. That just came out of nowhere. Ryo just blinked, unable to form a response. Mike already continued speaking, at any rate.
"I told him pee chai does the same, when he thinks I'm not around. Do you think they'll do it to each other tonight?"
Jin nearly rolled off the couch laughing, but Ryo could only stare.
"I'm eighteen years old, Nishikido-kun, I do know about these things. I'm also not blind and deaf, and around pee chai quite a lot."
It made sense. Still, Ryo couldn't combine the image he'd formed about the shy, naive young boy with the person speaking so easily about, well, the things he was talking about. He continued to stare, making Mike fidget a little.
"Akanishi-kun says nobody has touched you like that in a while."
...Okay. That was enough. Face white with sudden anger, Ryo jumped up from his seat, spilling beer over his shirt but ignoring it in favour of staring down at his friend, who lay curled up on the floor, hiccuping violently. "Will you keep the fuck out of my sex life already!? Just because you sleep with a different slut every night, doesn't mean I should do or even want the same! I'm not like you. Focus on your own pitiful little life instead of trying to mess with mine." Teeth gritting and fists clenched, Ryo stormed off into the far corner he used as a bedroom to change his shirt.
Warm hands on his naked back made him tense up in the middle of getting dressed. Strangely enough, he could tell right away, from the way those hands felt on his skin, that it was Mike behind him and not Jin. He was proven right when the person behind him spoke in accented Japanese. "He's just looking out for you, you know. Isn't that what friends do? They want the people they care about to feel happy. Are you happy, Nishikido-kun?"
Ryo sighed, shoulders slumping. In all honesty, he couldn't answer that question with 'yes'. Mike didn't pull back his hands and slowly, Ryo relaxed against them. Funny, how he and Jin always needed a mediator when they were alone. "I know... and I do appreciate it, just... I know what he's thinking."
"He wants me to touch you," Mike simply said, sounding as if he got requests like that every other day. Ryo tried to stop being surprised. "He's touched you like that before, hasn't he," Mike asked, sounding genuinely curious.
Ryo nodded, still too dumbfounded about the newest change in Mike's behaviour to even think about lying. "He knows what I like, it's hard to resist him when he's in seduction mode." Judging by the suppressed sound coming from Mike, the boy had already learned this.
Mike's hands slowly started wandering down his back and Ryo didn't stop them. "Maybe he needs it, too. Someone he knows and can be himself with. It must be different from being with a stranger, right?"
Blink. Ryo had never really thought about it that way, but there was some truth in it. He had never liked Jin's habit of sleeping with girls he met in some club, but now he thought that it must be lonely as well. Surely there couldn't be any real intimacy with someone you didn't know or trust. Out of the two of them, who was worse off, really? Turning slightly, he looked at Jin, who might or might not have heard their conversation. There was no telling, his face was blank, maybe slightly... needy? Was Ryo just seeing things now because of Mike's words, or had he just not been looking before? Feeling a light shiver going down his spine, Ryo looked at Mike, who nodded once, and back to his friend on the sofa.
"Jin..."
Somehow understanding what Ryo was saying, Jin got up from his seat and joined them in the bedroom, watching the both of them nervously. (It was amazing what Ryo could see in that face now, things he hadn't ever noticed there before.)
Gesturing for him to come closer, Ryo cupped Jin's chin in his hand and kissed him gently. "You're right," he whispered, "we all need to relax a little more." He hissed in surprise when Mike rewarded his action with a soft trail of kisses down his neck. The shirt he had been putting on, had fallen from his hands, but he hadn't even noticed.
Jin's face lit up and he kissed back shortly before starting to take off his own clothes one by one. Ryo chuckled, Jin had never been very patient with these things. "Slow down, Jin, we're not renting this room by the hour." Mike's soft giggling against his neck made him laugh.
Turning around, Ryo gave Mike a long, serious look. "Are you sure this is okay?" When Mike smiled and nodded, Ryo bit his lower lip. "You... better not tell your brother. Or Tomo-chan."
"Pee chai would kill you," the Thai boy replied seriously, making Ryo shiver again, though not in the same way as before. Mike giggled again. "I won't tell him. He dumped me to go on a date with Tomo-kun, he deserves some dishonesty."
Ryo could tell Mike didn't usually lie to his brother, but the tall boy's intense stare kept him from saying anything else. Tilting his head up, it was only a second before Mike accepted his silent invitation and their lips met briefly. When Mike pulled back with a soft gasp, Ryo turned around, smirking when his eyes came to rest on Jin's naked form. "Didn't I tell you to slow down?" Still, his eyes freely roamed over his friend's body, taking in the sight he hadn't seen for way too long. "You should lose weight." It was habit more than anything and there wasn't any venom in his voice.
"R-Ryo-kun...?"
His given name was new and strange on Mike's lips and Ryo thought it sounded sexy. He turned around again.
"Undress me."
Ryo heard Jin echo his gasp. He hesitated for a moment, knowing this was his last chance to get out of this. The moment passed and he reached out without a word, unbuttoning Mike's shirt slowly, fingers ghosting over creamy white skin until the piece of clothing fell easily off the boy's shoulders. He was slender and just slightly muscular, like Ryo himself, but more graceful, or so Ryo thought. His fingers traced Mike's collarbone, his lips following soon after. Even without looking, he knew Jin was inching closer and it wasn't long before Ryo felt skillful hands on his trousers, undoing them in seconds. He stepped out of them, taking a step back to give Mike a chance to look at him.
Mike did look, and he licked his lips in a way that once again made Ryo realise his first impression of the young man had not been exactly correct. "Undress me," Mike repeated, and Ryo's fingers found the button of Mike's jeans.

His bed was slightly too small for this, Ryo contemplated in a moment of coherence, his shoulder scraping the wall painfully as he turned around to kiss Mike's eager lips over Jin's heated and sweaty body. It was getting late and he was starting to wonder when Yamapi and Golf would come back to collect the innocent little brother, who in the past hour or so had proven to be neither innocent nor little. He moaned when those long fingers touched him without hesitation or shame, then cursed when the sudden explosion of sound told him someone was calling him.
"Fuck. Don't go anywhere, I'll be right back." He left Mike in Jin's expert care as he rummaged around in the dark, heading for the bright light of his phone's display. Tomo. Fuck. He had the sense to disappear into the kitchen before picking up.
"Ryo-chan? Would you mind..." Urgent whispering on the background. "I mean, is Mike-kun okay?"
Snorting at how apparently his best friend needed to be reminded to ask these kinds of things, he replied as honestly as he could. "Mike's fine. He's in bed right now, it's late."
Yamapi sounded relieved. "Is he asleep? Ah, we didn't mean to stay away this long. Ne, Ryo-chan... if would be a waste to wake him up now, right?"
"A waste," Ryo agreed, jumping from one foot to another on the cold kitchen tiles. His voice sounded as emotionless as he could manage.
A sigh, more whispering. "Would it be okay if we picked him up in the morning? We uhm..."
Ryo didn't want to know. "Yeah, don't worry about it. We'll be fine. I'll see you in the morning." He hung up without waiting for a response.
Walking back to the bed, thinking about how he needed to make sure to kick Jin out of the house before their friend arrived the next morning, his breath caught in his throat at the sight of Mike demonstrating his skills on Jin's lower body. He'd be dead if anyone ever found out, but fuck, that was hot. He climbed back onto the bed, immediately pulled down by Jin, who nearly bit off his tongue in an attempt to kiss him while being pleasured by Mike. Ryo snorted. "Good to know you didn't forget about me. And Mike? I'm sorry, but it seems you'll have to stay the night."
Ryo wondered if the way Jin screamed in orgasm was any indication of just how Mike felt about that.
