I LOOOOVE MY MAC. I switched this summer from el PC, and I wouldn't go back. Well, I mean, I have to use a PC at work still, but I adore my MacBook at home.
As shiny as they look, and believe me I've been lured by those macbooks a lot, you have to consider the proprietary nature of apple products. It's like sony, you have to have the proprietary cable with the proprietary connector and the proprietary mouse (with one button) etc etc. Unfortunately proprietary means premium price. So yes, shiny, probably more efficient in syncing itunes/ipod/iphone, but it will always be a big dent in the pocket, but if your pocket can afford it then no problem. Also, proprietary means you can't open up your computer and stick in a bigger hard drive or other piece of hardware you decide to switch out or need to replace. On the other hand, if you don't ever want to think about your technology aside from pressing the power button and using it, you'd probably be fine. And these days they can boot windows and come with Intel processors, so you can have a PC in a shiny white box. :)
