Oh they sound very effective. But what is a pastel (other than a stick of chalk?) and why would tampons give you scurvy?

So are these impregnated with orange juice in order to prevent scurvy? As opposed to normal ones which suck all the vitamin c out through the fannies of seafaring ladies?
