There were two documentaries: one made in 1997 and the other in 2004. They're both kind of fun. The two "stars" of both documentaries were Gabriel Koerner and Barbara Adams. I can't believe I came upon this post while in the middle of writing the exact same thing in a private message in another browser window. Yes, yes, yes! The original series was meant for its own time, not for the 21st century, and trying to resurrect it now for these new movies seems decidedly un-Star Trekkish to me. But a new TV series, not a relaunch but an actual new series with new characters, would be absolutely fantastic. I didn't know there was chatter about doing such a thing. I would very much like to encourage any such chatter.

Right now it's very broad talk, but I wish to remain optimistic. I'm hoping that Star Trek II will do well in box offices. As much as I object to the relaunch concept, hopefully if it does well, the idea of a new series will seem more attractive to the producers.
