Not too long ago, there was a scare regarding Apple computers. A virus was going around that supposedly attacked Java applications, or something like that. I just bought a new laptop PC this week - a Dell Latitude E6430. It's great in a lot of ways - totally silent, and not a lot of heat - but it has one very annoying problem, which is that every time I close the lid for a while and reopen it, it won't respond at all until I completely reboot it. This is such a very basic function for any laptop to have that I absolutely can't fathom how they could have shipped it to me without checking that. Worse, Google search results seem to indicate that a huge percentage of brand new Dell laptops share this problem. On the other hand, my old HP laptop was deafeningly loud and generated so much heat that it melted its own casing to the point of destroying itself within less than a year. I wonder whether there's any such thing anymore as a decent, functional computer that just, you know, works right.

I just Googled your laptop. It does look sturdy and reasonably compact. I know what you mean about problems, though. I frequently peruse CNET looking at what they consider to be great computers only to be dismayed by many of the design flaws (which sometimes includes price).

I was on the phone with Dell for an hour last night trying to get my laptop fixed. I'm still not sure whether it's fixed or not. It worked fine at the end of the phone conversation, then reverted to its old ways later in the evening, then seemed to be working fine again this morning. I hope your new laptop is proving more reliable!
