Summary: A former JE idol found dead in his apartment unit. Now, it's time for a young detective to unravel the mystery behind this death. To be able to do this, a pretty/weird/really pretty pet shop owner must help him, be it by force or by force (hehe ^^). And what's with the turtle?!
A/N: Back to the present time. Detective’s POV. Thoughts are italicized.
Chapter 4
“That’s ludicrous!” I yelled into his face after I heard his story. “You think I’m going to swallow that story?” I sighed exasperatedly. ‘What the hell!’
“At the time, Akanishi-san said almost the same thing.” He said.
“First of all, how could the turtle look like a woman?” I asked him, disbelief written on my face. “Was he under the influence of some type of drug?”
“I have only spoken the truth of the matter.” He said calmly and looked straight into my eyes. “Whether you choose to believe it is all up to you.”
I gazed back at him. I blinked.
Once
Twice
Thrice
He looked more and more appealing to me. ‘What a pretty face....’ I thought. As time passed by, I felt like a slave dazed by the look of a princess.
“So.... Hime....” I uttered. Then realization hit me. ‘I called him hime!’
“Huh?!” He looked blankly at me.
I coughed. “I mean HIM! Akanishi-san! He ended up buying that turtle huh?”
He shrugged his shoulder. “It seemed like she found him to her liking as well. If they were both happy with the arrangement, then who was I to deny the pair?”
He handed me a paper. “I have the contract here.”
I took it from him and read the contract silently.
‘It’s a real signature. Not a particularly insane price either.’ I read some more.
There were three special clauses in the contract.
1. Always provide her with fresh fruits or live food.
2. Do not show her to anyone.
3. Do not look at her eyes.
“If any of these rules were broken, we would not take responsibility for whatever might occur.” He said to me, while I was reading the contract. “Isn’t that what is stated there?” He raised his eyebrow.
I looked at him and nodded. Totally mesmerized with his beauty. ‘I won’t turn into a stone if I look into his eyes right?’ I felt dumb.

A/N1: Let’s go back to the past. Akanishi’s POV.
“Is it good Kame-chan?” I asked her. She smiled at me. I was feeding her some fruits.
It had been a week since I purchased her. I named her Kame. ‘To remind me that she’s my pet turtle.’ I chuckled at the thought. Sometimes, I forget that she’s a turtle because she really looked like a human.
‘Even though she doesn’t speak.... She’s still better than that annoying noisy woman.’ I was pertaining to my ex-wife, the noisy one of course.
I fed her some more fruits.
She can’t see so she’s not just smitten with my appearance.... And she’s not one of my weirdo fans. And best of all, she can’t live without me.
“You could not live if I didn’t protect you.” I cupped her face. “So, Kame-chan, as I do for you.... Please live for me.” I embraced her.
“Hey! It’s me!” I heard a voice calling from the outside. Knocking impatiently on the door. “Your manager, Taguchi! Open up Jin!”
I answered the door.
“What the hell!” He said when he entered my house. “This place is a freaking jungle!” He looked around cautiously.
We were now walking towards the living room. There are lots of trees and plants along the way. And grass too. I admit, this place really is a jungle.
“You’ve finally lost it! All your pets are running loose!”
“Be careful where you walk. There was a python taking a nap there earlier.” I said just to tease him. But I was telling the truth.
“What?!” He literally jumped to me. “Uhm Jin.... your pets are cool too. But don’t you have, like, dogs or cats, or anything more cuddly?”
He looked delighted when he saw a glass box with mice inside. “Oh! Hey, you have some mice! They’re kinda cute....”
“Actually, that’s food for the snakes.” I teased him some more. “There are some crickets, too.” Again, I was telling the truth.
His jaw dropped. I grinned.
“So what brings you here, Junno?” I asked once we’re seated.
“Oh, yeah! Right!” He put some papers on the table. “Next week there’s gonna be auditions for a new film directed by that guy, Tegoshi. I think I can get you in.”
“Audition?! ME?!” I looked at him incredulously. “With a bunch of amateurs? For that puny role?!”
“Jin.... Jobs won’t keep coming if you just sit here and wait for them.” He sighed.
I looked down.
“You get it, right? You can’t be the prince forever.” I nodded
“This is hard for me to say, but if you don’t get this part, our relationship is over.” He stood up. “And since your wife has been supporting you for who knows how long.... You’ll probably have to give up this place.”
“If that happens, you’ll have to say goodbye to your pets....” He started walking towards the door. “Well, if you come to your senses, gimme a ring.” He looked back at me before he went out the door.
He left me. I dropped on my knees. Stunned with his words. ‘WHAT?! Give you guys up?’ I looked around me. ‘I can’t do it.’
I saw Kame-chan. ‘Kame-chan.... to part with you....’ “I would starve to death on the street before I’d....” I walked towards her. ‘Kame-chan.... your food, your jewelry, I will provide for you.’
“I’m the only one who can take care of you.” I hugged her tightly.
A week later....
I decided to audition for the role.
I could hear people talking about me during the audition.
“Hey, isn’t that Akanishi Jin?” One of the amateur actors said.
“What?? I thought he retired?” Another one asked.
“Man, he’s good-looking....” The third guy is definitely gay.
“Hey, this is great, Jin! You made it to the final round.” Junno told me, he was smiling widely. “Now they won’t call you ‘old-timer prince’ or ‘has-been’ anymore.” He covered his mouth after he said that. “Oh.... I didn’t mean....”
“Don’t worry. It doesn’t faze me.” I assured him. ‘Kame-chan.... this is all for you.’ Her pretty features clouded my mind.
“Hey, that’s Yamashita Tomohisa.” We noticed a good-looking guy. “He started off in musicals and is starting to gain a following. Don’t lose to him alright?” Junno whispered to my ear.
I stared at the guy. He stared back. We had a staring contest.
You know, I’m not used to competing, but.... I feel pretty good about myself right now. Standing in the spotlight again.... makes me feel alive.
The audition finally ended.
“The part of the terrorist goes to Tanaka Koki.” The girly director announced. “Okay, thanks for your time, gentlemen. But unfortunately, I can only choose one of you.”
I turned to my left. That Yamashita guy looked really disappointed and pissed.
“Damn it!” Junno cursed. “He’s from one of those kooky religious groups. He probably bribed his way in....” He held my shoulders. “Jin, there’s always a next time. We’ll try again.” He was trying to console me.
“No, it’s okay. This was my last chance.” I reminded him. “Didn’t you say if I don’t get this we’re over? Well, this is it. Goodbye. Thanks for everything.” I bowed at him and left the place.
“Kame-chan!” I called when I arrived at my apartment. “I didn’t get the part.” I told her.
“I’m sorry.” Remorse reflected on my face. “I’m a pathetic man who couldn’t even protect you.” She touched my face. “To be honest.... I kept wishing that the other actors would disappear.... get into an accident or even die.” I looked at her worried face. “Do you despise me for that?”
I hugged her. “I wondered if what Ueda-san said was true.... If your eyes really could turn men into stone...” I continued talking to her. “But that would mean showing you to someone else. You are mine. I won’t let anyone see or touch you.” I kissed her forehead.
“You’re all I have left.” I hugged her once again. ‘It’s all about you.’ To my utter surprise, she hugged me back. With the same intensity that I gave her.
And that made me smile.
