He thinks maybe he’s met her before - in another life, maybe, another universe - because this feels all too familiar, the way he immediately puts his guard up higher than with anyone else the moment he meets her, yet simultaneously feels the urge to remove her mask, even his, and maybe kiss her, maybe let her kiss him, maybe just talk and hold each other and fall asleep next to each other, her breath warm against his cheek.
(But that can’t be right. It just can’t.)
And for a moment he gets a flash - blonde hair and blue eyes and a smirk that puts his own to shame - and feels his walls slip, feels his hand reach out for her -
But he forces those thoughts back, regains control of his mind and turns away.
(It’s a trick of the mind. Sleep-deprivation, too much stress. I - I don’t know her. I don’t.)
