well if the two swans want baby swans maybe one of them should get artificially inseminated although I hate the thought of them introducing a "Romeo" just because there's no male involved. It sounds the swans are already mated so that can only lead to trouble.

Yay, queer visibility! Homosexuality in animals are not uncommon in nature at all, it just tends to be under reported. Researchers are often reluctant to document same-sex couples in nature as such, and nature documentaries don't tend to simply cut out footage. Despite the bias, there is a surprisingly large amount of documentation. Biological Exuberance: Animal Homosexuality and Natural Diversity is a good book on this subject (the link goes to the Salon article discussing the book).

I like the idea of having the egg artificially fertilized so they can become same-sex parents. :)
