I never took real notice of how small our chunk of the world was until today. After all we live in fucking Texas, the state is freaking huge and size just seems to take on new meaning. However the phrase "it's a small world" really seems to be stuck in my mind at the moment, especially now that Katrina has passed us by

I know people that know people in those areas. I can't believe that we were lucky enough to miss it. As long as I've lived in Houston, I've been fortunate enough to never have been in a hurricane or tornado. When I lived in California, I was only in one tiny earthquake. My luck's got to run out soon.
