So I have to get to work and am sort of in a hurry, or else I would do this myself....but can some of you folks deal with this blog post, entitled "Does Pornography Cause Rape"? I think I just got a little sick to my stomach.

However I forwarded that link to a message board, which I frequent, filled with people who are much better at tearing these things apart then me. So even though I'm not going to touch that entry with a ten-foot pole, I'm sure one of them will.

Man, I'd like to smack this woman. Not only is she wrong about pornography causing rape (EVIDENCE PLZ), she's enforcing gender stereotypes by teaching her sons to "protect" women. I don't need any damn "protection," thank you very much.

Also, keeping people from acting on sexual impulses really just leads to BAD THINGS (see: the 1800s) like suppression, ignorance of women's sexuality, hatred of sex, and so on. Giving people a venue through which to release those urges can't be THAT bad. Festering's worse, for sure.

I like your response, though.

And then she comes back at me with, "Well, this is an editorial, so I don't need any data or factual information, because it's my OPINION." Oh, I'm sorry- opinions don't have to be based on facts?

That left me too angry and baffled to respond; this is a common problem for me on the internet. Did you see the snopes thread though?

BLECH. The stupid woman deleted my comments. And Rixel's comments. And the comments of EVERYONE who disagreed with her. I wasn't even being offensive or rude. I HATE THIS PERSON.

I also think she's a shitty writer, but we'll leave that battle for another day.

I was just browsing on PNN, and it was one of those "latest posts" links on the righthand side.

This is ridiculous. It's her right to delete comments, I guess, but it's just tacky to delete every single comment that disagrees with you and leave only the supportive ones.
