Notes on returning to Atlanta

  • I knew the southeast was in a daught, but I was not prepared for what it would be like. We have droughts about every other summer, but this one is particualrly bad. I can;t remember Atlanta ever looking so grey, so anaemic, so dry. The fires in south Georgia and Floria sometimes fill the city with thick grey smoke that smells heavily of burning. do you mean "close talkers" as in people who have to be very close to you to have a conversation or do you mean people who are generally quiet unless face to face? this interests me too.

I mean people who put their face very close to yours while making conversation.

I don't know many people who do that but if I did I would probably tell them to go ahead and make a move.

I don't think it's always flirty. I think a lot of people don't realize they're doing it. Or at least that their interest in what you are saying is more important to them than remembering social standards of personal space. Some people are really freaked out by close talkers, but I think they are kind of exicting.

I miss you. I miss everyone at home. Sometimes I feel like the entire world is passing me by because I'm here studying. I'm so disconnected from America, which seems like so much progress is happening, while here it's just the daily grind. I also feel like I'm letting people down. I'm going to make a post on it, but I felt you should know.

I also really want to see everything you're doing art-related. I think I might have broken the barrier keeping me from doing photography. Apparently it's in my blood, because both my Dad and Granddad did photography for a portion of their lives.

I miss you too. I don't think that you're letting me down in anyway; I'm really glad you're getting the opportunities you've got. And if you need any help getting started with photography, let me know.
