Author's note: This is entirely a product of imagination, and I do not own Jude Feeny, Max Carrigan, or any of the other characters depicted in the film Across the Universe.
Jude blinked, squinting slightly against the bright light that was pouring into the bedroom window. They'd forgotten to close the curtains again last night, he thought with a yawn. Oh well, it wasn't as though anyone could see into their window five floors up.
At least, he hoped they couldn't. He really didn't want to have to worry about voyeurs watching himself and Max have sex -- though if people did happen to see something they didn't want to view, it served them right for being nosy.
Beside him, Max turned over, yawning sleepily and raising a hand to push his hair back out of his eyes. 'Hey, baby," he murmured, wrapping his arms around Jude's waist and pulling him close. "You're up early. But then, so am I."
Jude laughed and snuggled into his boyfriend's embrace, sighing happily as Max pulled the covers up over his bare shoulders. "Let's not get out of bed today," he told his lover, feeling safe and comfortable in Max's arms. "It's the weekend. We don't have to do anything."
"We've got to go to Sadie's show tonight," Max reminded him, shaking an admonishing finger in Jude's face. "Remember? We promised her we'd be there." He smiled as he added hastily, "But that doesn't mean we can't stay in bed all day until it's time to go."
Jude nodded, letting himself relax in his boyfriend's arms. "I just feel like being lazy today. I don't want to get up and go anywhere, or do anything until we absolutely have to. Besides, Sadie's show isn't until later tonight. That gives us a whole day in bed."
"And just what do you want to do while we're in bed all day? Sleep? Or make love all day?" Max raised an eyebrow, grinning at his boyfriend. "I'm betting the second one, but I thought I'd better make sure. Because I'm not sure I have the stamina to go all day."
"We don't have to make love every second!" Jude told him, laughing and shaking his head. "I was thinking that we could .... well .... do a lot of kissing?" he asked hopefully. He loved kissing Max. No one he'd ever been with could kiss the way his boyfriend could.
"I wouldn't mind that," Max told him with a laugh. Propping himself up on one elbow, his boyfriend leaned forward to press a gentle kiss to Jude's lips, then pulled back with a saucy smile. "How's that for starters? There's more to come -- if you behave."
"Behave?" Jude raised his eyebrows, wondering what Max could be planning. "You mean I don't just get kisses because you love me and I'm irresistible?" he asked, feigning disappointment. "I've changed my mind. Let's get out of bed and start the day."
"Oh no, you don't!" Max laughed, rolling over on top of Jude and pinning the slender young man down, capturing Jude's wrists and holding them above his head. "You're not going anywhere. You promised me lots of kisses, and I'm taking each and every one."
"Oh, really?" Jude was trying his best not to laugh, but he couldn't stop a giggle from bubbling up inside him and making its way into the still air of the room. "What if I don't want to let you kiss me?" he countered, widening his eyes as he stared up at his boyfriend.
"Then you'll just have to put up with being kissed until I decide to let you go," Max told him in a mock-growl. "I was promised that I'd have sugar this morning, and I mean to get it!" He almost sounded fierce in his declaration, but Jude knew when his lover was joking.
"You'll get your sugar," he promised in a breathy voice, squirming under Max and wishing that his lover would let go of his wrists for just a few moments. "But not if you're going to hold me down like this," he added. "I want to be able to touch you."
"And what if I like holding you down, hmmm?" Max asked, his blue eyes twinkling with suppressed laughter. "I like having you helpless. It means that I can get whatever I want. And you know that I always like to win when I play games like this."
"You'll win no matter what you do," Jude murmured, smiling at the expression on his boyfriend's face. "I'm not going to hold anything back form you. Since when do I ever do that?" he asked, trying to sound as though he was offended.
"Never," Max conceded, letting go of Jude's wrists. Jude immediately wrapped his arms around Max, drawing his boyfriend closer to him, pressing their bodies firmly against each other under the warm cocoon of blankets that Max had pulled over them.
Raising his hands to Max's face, Jude gazed into his lover's blue eyes for what seemed like a very long time, taking in the expression in those cerulean depths. Max had the most beautiful eyes, he thought to himself; he could never get tired of looking into that blue gaze.
When Max's lips met his, Jude closed his eyes, letting himself sink into the pleasure of their kiss. Sugar, indeed, he thought, his senses whirling as the kiss deepened and Max's hands began moving down his body, caressing and exploring.
No one had ever been able to make him feel the way Max could simply by kissing him. The two of them fit together perfectly, puzzle pieces that interlocked so tightly they could never be torn apart. This was where he belonged -- here in Max's bed, in his arms, and in his heart.
Max's kisses tasted sweeter than sugar, sweeter than anything Jude could possibly imagine. The taste of his boyfriend's lips on his made him moan, made him ache for more of those kisses. He wanted Max to kiss him until he was breathless, until he weak and dazed in his lover's arms.
It looked like he was going to get his wish, he thought a moment later as the kiss intensified. Jude could feel a blinding passion starting to rise in him, a passion that tasted not only of sugar, but of the future -- a future that he and Max would share forever.
"Told you I'd get my sugar in the morning," Max told him as he raised his head, his words sounding rather breathless. "I always get what I want when I decide to go for it," he added, a smile quirking his lips. "But I think this time, you wanted to give it to me."
"I always do," Jude answered, wrapping his arms around Max's neck and pulling his boyfriend down closer to him, their lips so close that he could almost feel the whisper of a kiss brushing against his mouth. "And I always will. You'll always get the sugar you want from me."
"Yeah? So does that mean that I can have it for the rest of the day too, until we decide to get up?" Max teased, his blue eyes sparkling. "I might even try to get it tonight while we're at Sadie's show. Got to show everybody who you belong to, you know."
"You can have sugar in the morning, the afternoon, the night, and any time you want it," Jude told his lover, his own dark gaze alight with love and laughter as he looked up at the man he loved. "You don't even have to ask for it. It's always right here waiting for you."
"That's all I need to know, babe," Max told him, his voice soft and husky with desire. "As long as I've got you to get that sugar from, then I'm the happiest guy in the world. And I think it's about time I gave you the sugar you've been asking for."
With those words, he lowered his mouth to Jude's, capturing his boyfriend's lips in a heady kiss that seared them both to the very center of their beings. Jude gave himself up to the pleasure of that kiss, reveling in the fact that there would be much more to come before the day was over.
